Question:

Adjusting snowboard bindings?

I bought a used snowboard this week. The girl I bought it from rides regular, but I ride goofy. How do I change the bindings to goofy? Should I just swap the angles for the left and right binding, or turn the bindings 180 degrees so that my toes are on the other edge of the board? Best answer for whoever can also tell me the ideal angles my bindings should be set at ( I am a TOTAL beginner, lol.)

  1. I would swap the binding around, but that's up to you, just twisting them 180 works too. As for the angles, I prefer 21 and -5, meaning that my back foot also point forward.

  2. you want your feet( toes) panned out from eachother. ex(the bottom are your toes)  / \ so it doesn't hurt your feet when you go backwards. and yes you just switch your bindings to the tother side

  3. Aloha Adjustor,

For starters...How tall are you, what kind of board/binders do you have?  What size is your board?  What size foot do you have?

Ok, without that provided, the first thing to do is to take your binders, plates and all and place them goofy, now, determining your stance:  Stand comfortably on the board with your binders off of the board and in front of your feet.  Remember that the wider your stance is, the more stability you will have unless you go too wide.  So, try a few different places on the board where you are comfortable starting from the two middle bolt threads.  When you are at a comfy width without feeling like you are doing the splits or unstable because of the width, mark the holes of where you are standing.  Now, figuring out angles:  If you normally stand with your feet kind of duck footed then a really good angle for you is +10 to +15 degrees front and - 5 to 10 in the back foot.  If you have trouble figuring out your angles, chances are you can go to a snowboard shop (go to a real snowboard shop, not one that just sells snowboards, a specialty shop) and ask them to help you with the angles.  They will be cool about it :)  I myself ride a 21 inch stance with +18 front and -18 rear, I am 5'11" and ride a 157 Ride DH and also a Ride 156 Kink.  If I can be of further assistance, just shoot me an email and let me know what I can help with.  I have been riding for 20 years so I know quite a bit about the sport and the sticks we ride on   :)  Enjoy the ride :)
