Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins, is feeling the heat after the Saints calamitous start to the season, admitting that his future at the club remains uncertain.
The EPL newcomers have so far managed just 4 points out of their first 8 games, which has pushed them down to the drop zone.
The Englishman may have enjoyed notable success with the Saints over the last two years, helping them grab back-to-back promotions to make a return to the English top-flight.
However, nothing much has gone his way since the start of the campaign, as his side have only pocketed a single win. What is particularly worrisome for the south coast club is the rate at which they have conceded goals. So far, they have shipped 24 goals from their 8 league matches.
The team’s dismal showing has put the 47-year old in a precarious position. The clouds of getting sacked are already hovering over his head and he, himself, has admitted that his future at the club was currently hazy.
“Honest answer? I don't know how long I have got in this http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684,” he told the club’s official website.
“Stability is important at a football club, but I'm not naive enough to neglect the reality that football is a results driven business.”
Despite their fragile position in the league, the Saints have experienced a couple of encouraging moments.
Adkins’ unit put up a remarkable performance at home against Manchester United and led 2-1 till the closing stages.
However, a late double-strike from the Red Devils ace, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380, denied them any point, undoing all of their hard work.
They also came up with a spirited show against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their season opener, and even threatened to pull off a shock win, but failed to hold on to their advantage.
The former Bangor City boss bemoaned the performance of his defence so far, citing it as the major reason behind their decline.
However, he refused to be let down by the current scenario and vowed to give it his all to reverse the current doleful situation.
“We have given away too many goals. I am being honest about the situation and while I'll continue to work as hard as I can, we'll wait and see what happens,” he added.
