Southampton manager, Nigel Adkins, is wary of the fact that he might get the axe given the Saints ramshackle position in the league, but nevertheless, refused to be downbeat about it.
The Englishman revealed that he was honoured to be the manager of the Hampshire-based club and vowed to put up a fight in order to avoid his team’s relegation from the top-flight.
The Saints suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion on Monday, which sank them to the bottom of the league table.

Adkins’ unit have bagged just 4 points from their 10 games and have suffered 8 losses during this period, including 3 at home. All in all, they have conceded 28 goals, more than any other team in the competition.
The current dismal state of affairs at the club has left the manager feeling the heat, as he has already been tipped by many to become the first Premier League manager to get sacked this season.
Adkins admitted to feeling the pressure of not having put up points on the table. However, the 47-year old said the he was still positive of mounting his team’s recovery, but was wary of the fact that he might get sacked before that.
"We need to win and I believe we can do it. I'm very proud and privileged to be the Southampton manager. I'll stand out and lead from the front as I've always done,” he said.
“But someone is always going to be the favourite [to be sacked], and if you're bottom of the league, well, you should be the favourite probably.”
Even if the Saints decided to stick with the former Bangor City boss, the club now face a daunting task of reviving their campaign as apart from a game or two, they have struggled miserably to cope with the challenges of the Premier League.
However, Adkins pointed out that things can change quickly in the EPL and urged his side to turn their focus on their upcoming fixtures.
“I'm not going to hide away from that. But what a great challenge we face… I'm looking forward to the fixtures we've got coming up,” he added.
