Adlan Amagov will go against Robbie Lawler at Strikeforce event in January 2012 – MMA News
Mixed martial art (MMA) promotion Strikeforce will be holding its event called Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine on January 7, 2012, which is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The main car of the event will feature a middleweight bout between American MMA fighter Robbie Lawler and Russian MMA fighter Adlan Amagov. The Californian-based promotion will feature these two fighters in about for the first time.
Both fighters have been MMA fighters for quite some time and look forward at their bout with anticipation. Lawler, the 29-year-old fighter has won eighteen fights with eight losses. His experience will be useful for him in the ring but he cannot rule out
the possibility of a good show from his opponent, Amagov. The 25-year-old Russian fighter is a fairly new entrant in the MMA as compared to Lawler. Amagov has won nine bouts in his career with 1 loss. He has been unbeaten from his second MMA fight which he
had in October 2008. At the Strikeforce event he will be coming with nine straight wins under his belt, which will make him a motivated competitor.
Lawler, on the other hand, has a burden of two straight losses upon his shoulders. He lost to Brazilian MMA fighter Ronaldo Souza at Strikeforce event in January 2011 followed by his defeat to American MMA fighter Tim Kennedy at Strikeforce in July 2011.
His fight against Souza was for the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship but he was unable in securing the title.
With two losses in succession, Lawler needs a win at Strikeforce to get a possible title shot. Lawler also fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) from May 2002 to October 2004. He competed in seven UFC events in which he won 4 and lost 3. Amagov
is a new competitor in the Strikeforce where he has competed in two fights, winning both.
The other matches announced for Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine include two welterweight bouts. These will feature Tyron Woodley take on Jordan Mein and Tarec Saffiedine going against Tyler Stinson. The middleweight championship fight was scheduled between
champion Luke Rockhold and Keith Jardine but Kennedy has been sidelined due to an injury.
