Hamburg’s latest acquisition, Rene Adler, targets the starting berth in the DFB eleven after recovering from a long-term injury.

After becoming free agent, the 27-year old completed his move to Hamburg this summer. The Bayer Leverkusen youth product made a total of 138 league appearances for his former club.
The HSV goalkeeper’s career has been marred with injuries, despite his injury h**l Adler is regarded as one of Germany’s best goalkeeper. He made his Bundesliga debut at a tender age of 22, and on the back of some fine performances
established himself as the number one at BayArena.
The Germany international’s fine performances were cut short by a serious knee injury, which he suffered in a pre-season match. That niggling knee problem kept him out of almost two Bundesliga campaigns.
The 27-year recently made a full recovery after eight months of rehabilitation and after proving his fitness joined Thorsten Fink’s side.
Now Adler revealed that he is determined to claim the number one jersey at his new club. He will have to be at his best to dethrone Jaroslav Drobny off his number one spot. The former Bayer Leverkusen goalie believes that a berth
in HSV’s starting line-up will be the key to securing a place in the Mannschaft squad.
"I have enough ambition to think about playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 again. I have to be successful at Hamburg first, though," he is quoted as saying in an interview.

The 27-year old admitted that he is not the type to switch the clubs regularly and will be at the northern German club for the long haul. He insists he wants to be part of this emerging Hamburg side.
"There is a new beginning to everything. I'm a man who likes to think in the long term, rather than one who likes to change clubs every season. I came to Hamburg to be a part of a new team," he added.
Hamburg’s 2011/2012 Bundesliga campaign was rather disappointing. They finished 15th in the Bundesliga and managed to secure their German top-flight status by the slightest of margins.
Now the club has brought in some reinforcements and are expected to bring in a few more players so they can regain their status as a top four side.
