  1. A 1:1000 solution has 1 mL active ingredient per 1000 mL solution.

    (0.3 ml sol.)(1 ml act./1,000 ml sol.) =

    0.0003 ml epinephrine = 0.3 μl epinephrine

  2. A 1:1000 solution has 1 gram active ingredient per 1000 mL solution.

So we convert the gram to mg

    1:1000 solution adrenaline

    = 1g adrenaline in 1000ml solution

    = 1000mg adrenaline per 1000ml solution

    = 1mg per ml

    (0.3 mL dose)(1 mg) =

    = 0.3mg epinephrine

    or

    (0.3mL)(1g/1000ml)

    =0.0003 gram

    convert that to mg by multiplying by 1000 (1 g = 1000mg)

    =0.3mg epi
