Administrator says Dundee could cope with points deduction
Administrator Brian Jackson has said that Dundee will be able to cope with the ten-point penalty that the Scottish Football League may decide to impose on the First Division club.
Jackson met with the league’s board to discuss the Dens Park outfit’s future, with the club possibly facing a points deduction for entering administration for the second time in the space of seven years.
The administrator told reporters, "The meeting went well and I certainly feel that I got a fair hearing. We await the outcome, which I believe is going to be on Monday."
Jackson added that he had not been made privy to the possible penalties which the SFL may opt to enact, but said that the club would be able to cope if a points deduction was imposed.
"I know there's been a lot of press about a ten-point deduction and I have to say that there's been no indication given to me, whatsoever, about what it might be. If that was the result, I believe it's something that we, as a club, would be able to cope
with."
Jackson added that he was in a positive mood following the meeting and expected a SFL decision over any sanctions on Monday, 1 November, at around 1400 BST (0900 EST).
"I'm hopeful that any sanctions will be minimal, but I've no indication what they may be. We believe we've retained the integrity of the club; with the squad that we've kept and the support we've had has been absolutely fantastic.
"And we've had an incredible amount of donations, which has all been very positive. I've been feeling much more positive about the situation."
The club will attempt to counteract any points deduction by picking up a victory over Morton on Saturday, 30 October. They are currently lying in fourth place in the table with 13 points — ten behind league leaders Raith Rovers.
If a ten-point penalty is imposed, they will drop to the foot of the table behind last-placed Partick Thistle, who have nine points.
