Adnan Akmal not worried over Kamran Akmal’s return to the national team – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s Test wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adnan-Akmal-c42042, is not worried about his elder brother, Kamran Akmal’s return to the national side and said that whoever plays for the country, must perform well and help the team win.
Kamran, 30, after performing well in domestic cricket, has been recalled to the national team for the limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in September/October.
After a poor performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Akmal was dropped from the side, with the selectors giving opportunities to the likes of Adnan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakeel-Ansar-c89546. However, none of them was
successful in matching Kamran’s brilliance with the bat.
Adnan, who has been a permanent member of the Test team, is happy with his brother’s return to international cricket, but is also optimistic about his own Test career. The 27-year-old cricketer is satisfied with his progress in the
longer version of the sport and wants to play for his country in years to come.
"I am not worried at all. We play for our country and the best out of the lot get picked, so there is no point in being insecure," said Adnan. "I can't say much about him as we are selected based on our individual performances. I so far have played ample
number of Test matches (16) and hope to serve the country for long."
The talented gloveman has 55 Test scalps under his belt so far and has also shown glimpses of his batting ability by scoring a couple of fighting half-centuries.
While talking about Kamran’s return to the national team, the chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Iqbal-Qasim-c76980, revealed that the experienced cricketer has been recalled because of his extra-ordinary batting skills. The former left-arm spinner further added that Kamran was always
going to be the first choice wicketkeeper, once cleared by the board’s integrity committee.
“We need a solid wicketkeeper who can score quick runs and currently Kamran is the only option for us. He has maintained his fitness and more importantly, he has been cleared by the PCB," Qasim expressed.
