The rookie wicketkeeper of Pakistan, Adnan Akmal, has quashed the rumours that he was replacing his elder brother http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 behind the stumps in the national team, saying that there is no competition amongst them.
"No there is no such feeling that I am taking his place in the team. Our family believes that whoever plays for Pakistan should give his best and contribute to the team doing well," said Adnan in an interview from Dubai.
Adnan Akmal, the 26-year-old wicketkeeper batsman of Pakistan, was called up to the Pakistan team for the South African home series in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zulqarnain-Haider-c98685, left the team in the midst of the tour
and flew to London. Since then, he has been the regular gloveman in Tests.
In the recently concluded first Test between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, the 26-year-old wicketkeeper impressed with his batting, and work behind the stumps.
His elder brother Kamran Akmal has been struggling for a place in the national side since the spot-fixing scandal in August 2010. Pakistan selectors have been continuously overlooking Kamran. There is a school of thought which believes that Kamran is being
overlooked by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mazhar-c75448 Majeed named, as a client when the scandal broke out. Kamran has quashed these rumours, saying at various occasions that he has been cleared by the International Cricket
Council and he has the letter as well.
The youngest brother of Adnan and Kamran, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 has also played for Pakistan. Adnan said that he was proud to be the third Akmal brother to play for the country.
"There is no competition among us brothers. We try to support each other all the time. Kamran is presently out of the team but he is playing domestic cricket and is there for me," said Akmal, who so far has 45 dismissals behind the stumps from 11 Test appearances.
"Kamran was the first in our family to play for Pakistan and is the eldest, so obviously he has a special place for us," he added further.
