Adnan Akmal recovering well after surgery – Cricket News Update

The 27-year-old cricketer from Lahore was struck on his hand on day one of the third Test at Pallekele in the recently concluded tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, resulting in a hairline fracture.
The wicketkeeper however, showed fighting spirit throughout the match and batted brilliantly in the second innings, helping his team save the match along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Shafiq-c46208, although he was not able to keep wickets.
Adnan has been resting home since then and has not started training yet. The talented keeper revealed that he had a successful surgery on the finger and will commence his practice at the end of August.
The Green Shirts are scheduled to visit http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 early next year, which is Pakistan’s next assignment in Test cricket, and the budding player is confident of attaining complete fitness before the tour.
"The surgery went well and the doctors are satisfied," Adnan expressed. "I will start my rehabilitation later this month and have plenty of time ahead of the tour of South Africa."
Since making his debut in 2010, Akmal has been a regular in the five-day format, despite missing the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 last year. However, his inability to play big shots has been a hurdle in his T20 call up.
The wicketkeeper is disappointed that he has not been able to play for almost a month now but understands that injuries are a part and parcel of a sportsman’s life. Adnan also vowed to work hard to enhance his game, once he gets rid of the injury.
"This is the first time I have been idle for such a long time with injury but it's a part of life for a cricketer. Finger injuries are routine for a wicketkeeper, and sometimes you have a bad day. I am fine and will make a full recovery
in a few weeks. Once I'm fit, I will ensure I won't get complacent," he added.
