Adnan Akmal to keep wickets for Test series
The Pakistani selectors have named wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal in the side for the two-Test match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 that will be played in the Middle East. The two games will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Akmal is the brother of Kamran Akmal, who was the previous wicket-keeper of the side, but wasn't selected because of his fitness issues. Mohammad Hafeez and Younis Khan were also selected in the Test match side. Rather surprisingly, Sohail Tanveer was left
out of the team.
Earlier, Zulqarnain Haider was expected to be a part of the Test team as well, but his mysterious disappearance meant that the selectors had to replace him with Akmal.
Hafeez’s selection comes after the Pakistani selectors weren’t allowed to select http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Danish-Kaneria-c1314 in the side as the Pakistan Cricket board refused to give him clearance to be a part of the side. Hafeez will double as an opening batsman and an off-spinner
to support the likes of Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman.
Younis had played in the ODIs after returning back from the PCB ban and scored a couple of half centuries in the series. He will add the necessary experience to the Pakistani middle-order along with Mohammad Yousuf after the batting was found wanting in the
series against England.
Adnan features for the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s first class structure. Batting is not exactly his forte (he averages less than 23) and his brother Kamran’s consistent selection made it difficult for him to break through into the side.
It has not yet been announced why Kaneria was dropped from the side. But, according to news reports, this is a part of the exercise that the Pakistan Cricket Board is carrying out to ensure that only those players who have had a clean record are selected. Kaneira
