Adonis Stevenson says he will knock out Jesus Gonzales – Boxing news
Adonis Stevenson seemed highly confident on Friday night, February 17, 2012, just a night before his match against Jesus Gonzales.
The match between the both will be held at the Bell Centre in Montreal Saturday on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Adonis Stevenson, speaking about his confidence, remarked, “Confident? I’m confident I’m going to beat this guy. He’s going at 168; he’s never knocked nobody. I knocked Dhafir Smith, and he went the distance with Dhafir Smith. You’ve seen him, he’s fat!
That’s not the way to do it at 168, I’m going to stop him. My trainer knows him very very well and you’ll have to watch tomorrow, I’m going to put him down, clean.”
After the weigh-in, both fighters had a bout of shouts which according to Stevenson was just a mind game from Gonzales. He even said that Gonzales claimed he raped a girl and that he will be putting up a lawyer because Gonzales does not have the right to
talk like that.
In the recent past, Gonzales has been comments on Stevenson’s past. Gonzales even brought up Stevenson’s 18 months jail time calling it as punishment for pimping. Irked on all what Gonzales had to say, Stevenson claims that he will put him in the court in
the ring too.
He further added that Gonzales is a short man and that he will problem reaching his face. Lastly, speaking about his strategy against Gonzales, Stevenson said that he will be working the jabs and Gonzales will soon be knocked out. He added that he is confident
he will beat Gonzales through a knockout and that it will automatically come even if he does not try it.
Stevenson seems to be on track for dragging Gonzales to court. However, his promoter Yvon Michel stated that he has told Stevenson to focus on the fight and leave the court issues for later.
He further said that he is well aware of how furious Stevenson is on Gonzales but right now it is time for him to focus on the fight and he should do that instead of losing his focus.
