  1. Don't adopt a child if you are only going to be in the USA for a year. When you leave the USA, then what? Just adopt only when you are "settled down" in one spot.

Adopted children need a home, and honestly, traveling and only keeping them for a year...isn't a good solution. They want a permanent home and a family they can actually call a family.

Adopt when you are ready to have them forever! ;-)

  2. Hi, I don't know what NRI means, if you are a us citizen, you can check out the government web pages on foreign adoption and immigration. If you are from India and want to work on the process while you are here, you will have to check with the Indian Government for rules and regulations. I would guess that it is like completing a foreign adoption when you live here full time. You just do everything through the mail and have everything translated.

Good luck. Adoption is a wonderful thing.

Is it not easier to adopt an Indian child while you are in India? Just wondering. Check out http://www.informedadoptions.com while you are at it too, to learn more about some of the other issues involved in adopting internationally.
