Adopted a pregnant stray cat?

Question

A pretty grey cat started coming around my house only at night in June.I found out that a guy with 2 boys tossed her out and told them not to feed her so she'd go away.(I will never think of him the same) I was torn because we already have 4 indoor cats that are spoiled and loved and I didn't think an outdoor cat would mesh well with them or even want to stay inside. After awhile she began to trust me and allowed me to pet her and I realized she was pregnant. She made a nest under my porch but leaving food out was attracting possums and raccoons. I couldn't stand to think of her having her kittens in the dirt and fighting off wildlife so I took her to the vet to have her checked for diseases (she was neg.) and brought her into my home. The vet thought she was near the end(that was a wk 2morrow) I don't want to take her temp (she got upset when I tried) How can I tell when she is in labor? She is happy and content but won't leave my 9 yr. olds bedroom. She has a box with towels.

She will be in labor when she starts meowing and purring rediculousy..also she will be going around in little circles trying to find a comfortable position, her "pupu" might start bleeding and you will see some beige creamy stuff ready to come out..I know its nasty but hey....its pregnancy

Cats are amazing mothers and if left alone she will be fine.  She is a little stressed because she is in a house that belongs to other cats.  Put an old blanket on your son's bed just in case she decides that height is safety.  After the kittens are born and she is settled you can move her and the kittens and the blanket to a safe place like her box, and if you could put that box under a bed she would love it.   Don't touch the kittens too much, check them for any abnormalities,  they will look all skinny and baggy when they are first born, but once mom cleans them and feeds them they will be soft and unwrinkled and round.  If they don't eat right away the mom is probably stressed that you are watching, she needs privacy.  And water and food.  Your sons room is going to become a nursery.  Don't take her temperature that is just mean.  I hope this helps.

awwww i hope you keep her and her kittens. but usually when a pregnant cat goes somewhere nice an quiet they usually dont leave until they give birth there. just check up on her daily and if she started meowing and yeowling really loudly youll know for sure...

You're so wonderful for taking her into your home and I wish you the best in finding homes for the kittens.  Lots of people are just disposing of their pets these days.

She may disappear somewhere you can't find her when she's in labor.  I once had a cat give birth in the rafters of a garage.  If she stays put in her box, it should be very soon.  She'll also be breathing heavily.

well,what ever you do make sure that you keep an eye on her and watch for any sign of weird activity make sure you take her to the vets she stays healthy!!!!!!!! :}

leave her were she is. she has made her nest and will go there to have the kittens. What ever you do don't fall into the trap of keeping the kittens i did and was sorry after you just get over whelmed in the end. You will know when she is in labor because she will not move from her box. Good luck

Another sign of her going into labor is sometimes pregnant cats drink a lot of water.
