Im thinking of adopting one or maybe to guinea pigs..

How does the process go?

Is it the same like dog adoptions where you have to get approved and give all your info and they visit your home?

Heres the adoption form:

these are the piggies available

im thinking of adopting 2..

Sandy and...

either Leon or Aime, or Snowball

What does it mean when it says " Do you object to a home visit?"

If I say yes, they wont visit?

  1. If you say yes, you may not get the guinea pigs because they can't check your house. Unless you've got something to hide- a rabid dog, unsuitable/dirty living, aggressive children- why would you care about them checking you out? It's in the pets' best interests.

  2. If you object to a home visit, it will make them suspicious of WHY you do not want them to see where you'd be keeping the guinea pigs. They just want to make sure the guinea pigs are going into a safe & clean environment.

It's similar to adopting a dog or cat. They may or may not require a home visit (but you shouldn't object to it if they want to). There is an application, obviously, so you'd have to get approved (that's what the application is for!)

"The foster parent has the final determination in whether or not the animal will be relinquished into your custody."

They will review the application to see if you sound like a responsible pet owner, and if you have the appropriate cage for the guinea pig(s) in question.

They want forever homes for these guinea pigs, which is why there's an application process. It's worth it, though.
