  1. Are you in spain? If you're not I don't think you have much chance. Spain has one of the lowest birth rates in Europe so I don't think they have any kind of international adoption program. Actually I think there are very few international adoptions from any western european countries. This is because of low birth rate and relative weatlh in those countries.

  2. Hi - Spain the country or a Spanish-speaking country?

The reason I ask is that adopting from Spain is about impossible.

But, there are plenty of kids adoptable from Spanish speaking countries. We adopted a child from Colombia and we could have adopted more - or sibling groups.

If you are British, you have to use an approved adoption agency from some other country - I have heard of UK subjects who used a Belgian agency.

    Good luck to you

  3. why would you want to adopted a child from spain there is children over here who need parents to

  4. Spain has THE lowest birth rate in all of Europe, approximately 1.2 children per female...not even enough to sustain the current population.

Because of the importance of the family--and the extended family--it is extremely difficult for a national to adopt...even more difficult for a foreigner.  Unless, of course, you're willing to adopt an older child, possibly one with problems.

Contact your country's embassy in Madrid for further information.

  5. Spain has a very low birth rate and very few babies are available for adoption, either domestic or foreign.

I actually know several families from Spain that adopted from other countries.

The US State Department says the following about adopting from Spain: "Adoptive parents must be legal residents of Spain and must remain in Spain throughout the adoption proceedings." So it appears that unless you want to become a legal resident, it would not be possible to adopt from Spain.
