  1. This is the horse racing section. There is a pets>horse category that would be more appropriate for this question.

  2. I've help train a few rescued and adopted horses. NEVER AGAIN. Out of the 4 we trained. One made it. The other three were to damaged (mentally) due to the abuse you couldn't see. We never would have sold them to someone, unless they were very experienced. The one who made it was wonderful and is now a great little hunter jumper at a riding school. The other three are basically huge eating lawn movers. I love them but they are a pain.

All four were sound and looked great. They just have to many issues and to much baggage. Two were off the track race horses. They had been treated the worst.

    Be very careful.

  3. Any animal can be trained. But you should reserch them first. Ponys can be preety mean, but you could try this website:

  4. If you are in New Jersey, as I am, you might want to consider going through the SRF (Standardbred Retirement Foundation).  Many standardbreds can be used for showing, etc.  They also have great temperaments and are great to work with.  This also saves them from the slaughterhouse.  I used to race standardbreds but am now showing and use them in hunter/jumper classes as well as driving classes.  My 3 year old daughter can ride them with no problem!  Hope this helps
