I have looked at Adoption sites and books. I told a friend about my adopting a little boy. She also said that she wants to adopt a little girl from india. How much does the adoption cost. And If i saved up the money now, can i be able to adopt a little boy with out living on my own. Currently i am a full time college student.

Is there a chance that I can still adopt and live at home?

  1. I would wait until after college. I think it's great that you want to adopt (a family friend just adopted a little girl from Vietnam), but as a college student, I think having to raise a child at the same time would be very difficult and costly. You would need to find someone to watch the child while you're in classes and during study time. Wait until you have a steady job before you look into adopting. Adoption is very expensive and time consuming. It takes thousands of dollars and many places require that you travel to the country various times to have interaction time with the child. As a college student, I know it would be difficult to find the time and funds to be traveling to India every few months. Also, many adoption agencies would see that you're still in school and deny your application. If you want the best chance of being able to adopt, wait until you have that degree.

  2. i would say your chances are very very low. why would you even want to at this time. you are a full time student so you might have a part time job. do you know how much it cost per week for a baby. take this time for school and to sow some wild oats. this should be the best time of your life. there will always be children all over the world looking for a home but right now you don't have a home to offer. children don't only need a mom, home, food clothing, and medical care and you are a full time student so there will also be the cost of child care. but mostly a child needs not only a mom but a father.you do not have even one of these things. so what do you have at this time to offer a child. adoption is a wonderful thing to do hope you do adopt some day but now is not the time.

  3. Most of the time, agencies require you to be at least 25. Adoption is expensive. If you are unprepared to even live outside of home, I can tell you that you can't afford it. Most countries require you live over there at your expense anywhere from a few weeks to several months. I agree: wait until you are out of college and have a steady job. Adoption is great, but raising a child is very hard work. And living at home raising a child can be pure h**l. If you have to, okay, but it is not something you want to CHOOSE to do. :)

    Good luck!

  4. I don't know any of the legal advice that you are looking for about adoption.  But as a parent, not too much older than you i expect, If you care at all about the child you'll be bringing into your life. You'll wait until you are in a stable situation. i.e. not focusing on school, and having control of your own living situation.

  5. I suggest contacting a local adoption agency that specializes in international adoptions.  They will best be able to help you with what is required as well as the fees.  Since each state is different in what they require, as well as each country may have their own regulations, it is best to speak to someone in your own state that knows all the rules.

    Good luck to you.

  6. i adopting a child in japan im japinese and i live there in the summer and so it depends on the price and u need to get in contact with people in charge so much luck too u and im pregnant im startating to realize this is a blessing in disguise

  7. im a full time college student too, are you sure you'll be able to take care of this child with your schedule or are you looking to adopt later on in life?

in the us, adoption costs can run from very little (hundreds) to easily over $30,000 (depends on how you choose to adopt, state, domestic, independent) and if you are looking to adopt internationally you have to consider: travel expenses (transportation, hotels, food), translation services, medical, legal and agencies fees, etc. so we can be talking about ten of thousands of dollars. yes i guess if your serious the time to start saving is now, and it wouldn't hurt to start doing some research now to, to have an idea of exactly what you could be facing.

oh and as for living with your parents, you should be able to show that you can fully support yourself possibly an additional household member (the child you'll adopt) , and that you have a stable and secure lifestyle before you are able to  adopt.

    good luck
