As an American, is it possible to adopt a child from NORTH Korea?

If it helps, I wouldn't be attempting to adopt from North Korea for at least another 10 years.

  1. Yes you can but there nuke only went 15 feet on Columbus day. You'd want somebody from Japan or something just my personal opinion.

  2. Who knows what the political situation will be when you are`ready to adopt in ten years?  I guess it is possible that you will be able to, but I don't think that is the case right now.

  3. well i odnt think you can adopt a korean child from there cause in north korea its a poor country plus the government law willl take you forever to get all the writting papers be rewrite and even make alot of copies to adopt a child there cause iam from south korea its different alike north korea are more worst. i would think it better you choosen south korea instead cause it better you there with someone who willin go with you and go see some young babies who needed be adopted and needed some alot of cares and loves from a good family who want to adopt her or him from the south korea adoption serivce . well i know that it wouldnt be easlier to pay the service you need have alot of money to adopt a child in korea . its not alike hundred dollar . over thousand . so i think it better you and youre husand keep working hard to save extrs money if youre planning wanted to adopt a korean children in seoul.  good luck.

  4. i dont think so. you would be giving the child a better life. but at the same time wouldnt you have to smuggle the kid out of north korea?

  5. sooooo much can change in ten years, I wouldn't worry about it for another five or six years. Countries often decide to close the doors to international adoptions, and tehn may open them later, or may change the regulations/standards ect so I really wouldn't worry about it if it's ten years away...

  6. you are talking about in 10 years and a lot could happen by then.  However yes to your question now.  I do know of a few families that did international adoptions in Korea.  Sorry I am not sure of the exact towns-north or south.  But I know they were all with different agencies and all the children were from different areas.

    Hope this helps, sheri

  7. NO, it is not possible and probably will not be in the forseeable future.  South Korea has a GREAT international adoption program, though, as you probably know.

  8. I couldn't find any information at all on adopting from north Korea on the State Department website.  My guess is because it's not allowed by the NK government.
