I have 2 sons from a previous relationship. The bio dad has signed all parental rights over. My fiancee would like to adopt them now since he really is the only dad they know and he loves them like his own. My question is..if we are not married yet, can he still adopt them or must we b married first. We live in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada so local responders would be really helpful.

  1. No you dont have to be married, My father adopted me before he married my mom.

  2. Do you really want to allow someone you're not married to to adopt your children?  There is the chance your relationship may not work out, and then you'll have to deal with someone who has parental rights but who isn't the children's biological father.

In fact, even if you folks got married I'm wondering if you'd be better off keeping your parental rights to yourself and eliminating the possibility of any custody  or other problems in the event of a divorce.

  3. You can in TN singles ,g*y whatever adopt all the time it does not matter.
