Adoption Fears?

I am getting ready to adopt 2 kids, my neice and nephew. She is 7 (August) and he is 2 (June) so they will be soon to be 8 and 3. They have been in foster care for 16 months now. I have 3 girls 13, 10, and 6. My sister went to court in November and her and the fathers' rights are going to be terminated. I know that I will not adopt them as soon as we get them, we will be on a trial run, if that is what you want to call it. I know there are some problems that need to be dealt with both children. I am already prepared for that.

My husband is currently deployed and we might get them before he returns in fact I do know that we will get them for a week over their spring break for a trail trail run. They are in NV, we are in GA. I talk to them at least once a week. And we write about 1-2 times a week.

Now I am just have some fears about them and my girls. I mean we are going from 3 kids, all girls to 5 Kids.

  1. All I can say is, my sister had four kids and I had the option of taking them and adopting them, or letting them go.  I chose to let them go.  Not a day goes by that I don't regret it.  Whatever happens, at least they are with you and safe.  My days are spent counting down until the oldest one is 18 so I can go find her.  Please take them.  You'll be fine.  Looking back, we might have had some rough times, but it would have worked out.  Don't make the same mistake I did.

  2. Maybe there are books you could buy/research.

You are doing the right thing.  Thank you and your husband.

    xx

  3. Counseling and honesty...for the whole family.  Thats your best bet.
