I am going to a friends party next weekend. She's 15 years old, and she has been living with her foster parent for quite some time now. She has finally been officially adopted, which is what the party is celebrating. I want to get her a small gift. I was thinking earings, but does anyone have any idea in mind that just jump out as an "adoption gift"??

  1. a photo in a frame with your friend and her adoptive family?

  2. One of the few gifts my son received on "adoption day" was a silver picture frame engraved with his name & adoption date.  I thought that was pretty neat.

  3. A book with a nice inscription.  Let the parents buy jewlerrly, i alwasy say books make the best gifts.!

  4. how about a gift that any 15 year-old girl would like?  although it's for an "adoption party" there is no rule that it have to be related to the adoption.  not all kids see there adoption as a totally wonderful...some are dealing with extreme loss from their natal families and are making difficult transitions.

    hope that helps..

  5. How about a pair of earrings with both her birthstone, and her adoption month's birthstone?

  6. I like Denise's locket idea, but in addition to the photo's you could have the date of the adoption enngraved on it too with her initials.

    Have fun at the party!

  7. Anything nice is appropriate. Earrings are lovely

  8. How about a nice locket, with pictues of her adoptive parents inside?

  9. How about a book about adoption from the adoptee's perspective?  I think it would be a wonderful gift to point out to her that her sense of self is important, and her journey is valued, by those around her.  I know there are plenty of good books like this, but the one I can think of is "Journey of the adopted self".
