Are there any sites available for you to ‘search’ for children up for adoption? I know they did a TV series showing children from around England so wondered if there was a similar site? Where you can search for you 'ideal' child.

  1. I knew what you meant........  :)

you can try www.adoptuskids.com.  They usually have a large amount of children on this site that describes what their special needs are.  Thay also have some sib groups.  Best of luck to you and god bless.

  2. I would check with your social services departments - I'm sure they can lead you in the right direction.

  3. That's sick! You can not just search for 'ideal' children! You have to go through adoption agencies and stuff!

I think if you are thinking that you can buy a child then this is either a joke or you really aren't mentally stable enough to even have a child!

  4. get a life

  5. maybe this one if you subscribe http://www.bemyparent.org.uk/

  6. While I agree that "shopping for a child" sounds really bad, it's not when you think about it.  Parents who have children born to them have an innate genetic interest in raising the child.  It's biological, and while in rare cases parents will injure or kill their children, biology keeps us mostly on a strait path to preserve them.  Let's face it though, parenting is THOUGH.  There will be days when you just want to strangle your child.

Adoptive parents don't have the added benefit of a biology driving their affection.  That doesn't mean that adoptive parents can't be just as affectionate, but it does mean that it is smart to exercize care when matching up parents and kids.

Few of us would want to be randomly assigned a spouse.  Why do we suppose it makes any better sense to randomly assign children to adoptive parents?  You "shop around" for your spouse, why not "shop around" for your child?  It's not that you're saying other kids are less worthy, you're just trying to find a child that fits best into your life.  I think the end result of that is a good one.  You've chosen a family that has the best chance of being successful.  It does little good to get a child adopted if the adoptive parents and the child clash to a point that makes them miserable (or worse yet abused).  When you don't have the added protection of biology, you have to be espescially careful not to give parents children they might become too frustrated with.  It's also wise to allow parents who KNOW they are patient enough and skilled enough to take care of the difficult children then ability to find those children and love them.  There would be nothing wrong with such a service.

I know Texas has a service like that, though not ALL children are listed.  I really hope you're able to find one in the UK.

  7. no that would be completely unethical!!!!

Its not like doing your online grocery shopping!!!!!

Its so wrong on so many different levels!

  8. As it is often the hardest for family groups to get placed together and for children with disabilities or additional needs to be adopted, if you speak to your local adoption team then they will definantely be able to point you in the direction of some children who have not been able to get placed.

  9. LondonKids has lots of kids and family groups.

Thanks for caring about these kids.

  10. I adopted twin girls both with Autism. I went through social services. They have so many sibling groups and special children that need loving family's. Contact your local department and go on the fostering / adoption course to become an approved carer and go from there. It's a long process but well worth it in the end. It took 2 years from first contacting the SS and the girls coming to live with us and then another 3 years for the Adoption to go through. After our approval we were shown photographs of the children before we went to see them.... good luck

  11. are you out of your mind.......
