My husband and i are very young and still have another 3 years before we can be considered as adoptive parents by most standards but we were told we should start now becuase it is a long process and by the time we are the right age our paper work will be done. is this a good idea? will they let you start the process if you aren't the right age? also we were considering adopting from ethiopia, is the process longer or shorter if we adopt out of country? what are some concerns?

  1. You know why its so hard to adopt here in the states.  Abortion is an option and its hard to find a child to adopt.

  2. adoption is a wonderful thing!

i am not sure that you can begin the process before you are of age. yes, it is very true that it takes a long time. one issue with adopting out of the country is they give preference to parents who are of that country. recently in my family we were adopting from Russia and we had received video tapes and pictures of our soon to be little boy and we were supposed to leave in 3 days to meet him and they called us and told us a Russian family wanted to adopt him. but they told us to come anyways and we met a wonderful 3 year old boy and he has been the joy of our lives. everything works out for a reason and it is the best feeling once everything does. best wishes and good luck!

  3. Why not just have your own?

  4. I suggest you also start saving money.  The legal fees are from $10K to $40K.
