OK so my best friend is 14 and her parents treat her horribly. not physically but verbal. they tell her that she is worthless and they don't want her. this has gone on for a while and two days ago her mom (who she lives with, but dad feels the same) told her not to come home. so she stayed at one of her old teachers house. I was wondering if it is legally possible to have her move in with my family???

  1. yes...you need to contact a social worker though or go the court and speak to them and see if a guardian et litem can be appointed.

  2. Sure if her parents agree and your parents agree.  Just ask them to get something notarized giving your parents legal gaurdianship of her.  If they really don't want her then you'll know because they'll do it.  But I bet you find out they will never give her up willingly, but it may open some avenues for better communication and open their eyes to the damage they are doing to their own child.

  3. You should contact your local state agencies responsible for child wellfare.  Explain that she has been thrown out of her parents house and that your family is willing to take responsibility for her.  She will eventually become a ward of the state and you and your family should ask to have her placed with you.  Your parents may have to go through a home-study and be licensed as a foster home, but this will give your parents certain rights and benefits.

  4. Yes... You the teacher your parents and you...Should...

  5. Teachers, whether they currently have the student or not, are REQUIRED by law to report any instances of abuse or neglect.  I'm sure this is being handled.

  6. man this just steams me......no kid should be unwanted!!!!

I can not imagine telling my dd to not come home.

Contact a local child advocacy agencies....not CPS.

They will your family and most likely provide legal services for FREE!.

       I will pray for her!

  7. yes just take it up with the court and dfacs association

  8. Tell her to stay where she is she doesn't want at her age to go in foster care. If she can make it a couple more years things will get better. I have saw this before where the child wants out of their parebts house only to be put in a system that will be so much more controling and when they turn 18 and out of high school put out on the streets and the parents of these children gave up or just don't care anymore.. You will find alot of these kids on the streets, so hang in there things will get better.

  9. Yes, you can adopt her but I think the parents have to say OK
