On a vacation in China me and my husband fall in love with a baby (orphan). We really want to adopt that baby as to me and my husband haven’t got any child since we’ve marriage (10 years).

Does any one knows the procedure and restriction?

  1. Research adoption laws in your state and go to an adoption agency.  The agency will help you fill out and submit the proper paperwork.  Make sure you tell the the name of the orphanage you want to adopt from and the name of the child, if she has one.  You want your home to be as safe as it can be for a baby. Foreign adoptions take a long time, and start saving money now because you will likely have to travel to China at least twice.  Good luck, you sound like you would be a great mom.  I hope this adoption works for you!

  2. Don't do it!  I bought a toaster that was made in China and it burnt on side whilst the other was soggy.  It may be trendy now to adopt a foreign kid but you will always be at the occulists buying glasses and getting cameras  and unless your hubby is chinese then if you ever go in the chinese resturant alone, all the neighbours will talk.  No get a white one and same yourself a lot of hassle.

  3. You aren't able to adopt a pre-identified child from China unless its from a waiting child/special needs list through an agency.

If you are looking into adoption from china you can go to www.informedadoptions.com and look under adoption guide for more info about the process, timelines, and etc and go to essentials and articles to do more research on international adoption and some of the deeper issues involved. Its best to make a fully informed decision and make sure you are doing the right thing for the child and your family.

  4. Marsha R is correct you can't select a specific child unless they are on a waiting list.

Ashley is wrong about the travel, you travel once to China for about 1 1/2 weeks (longer if you sight see)

  5. Try Pearl S. Buck International.

Pearl was a famous American author (The Good Earth) who grew up in China in the early 1900's and fought for the rights of previously "un-adoptable" Asians. Welcome House aids parents in Asian adoptions and has for about 50 years.

I have included their website and other websites about Pearl S. Buck below.

Best of luck and God Bless.
