Does anyone have any information regarding Adopting a child from Ireland if you are a US resident/citizen? My husband is an Irish citizen and we would like to adopt from Ireland. How hard is it, how long is the process and what are the costs?

  1. Northern or Southern Ireland?

edit.  Yes, it makes a difference - they have different authorities

Adoption in Great Britain (England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland) and in Southern Ireland is very different to US adoption and private adoption is illegal

    Try asking here:

    http://www.adoptionboard.ie/domestic/ind...

There are loads of Irish people in the USA (I'm of Irish ancestry and was born in NY)  I don't know if you can special order an Irish kid though LOL

Why not open your heart up to one of the thousands of kids dreaming of having a family in the US foster care system

  2. You won't be able to adopt as all the kids being born to the 12yr olds are kept as status symbols instead of giving them a REAL life with a REAL family.

Plus, if they didn't keep their kids how on earth would they be able to afford their revolting gold earrings and spiral perms without idiotic social welfare making it worth their while to have kids instead of going out to work.

  3. I really don't think Ireland has an international adoption program.  I think the only international adoptions from Ireland to the U.S are relative adoptions.
