do not suggest the original birth certificate... they already have it

do not suggest professional family photo, they have a professional photographer booked already.

  1. What about a poem about adoption, printed on beautiful paper, and matted and framed?  Here are a few sites with poems about adoption, from all different perspectives.  You could have their names and dates engraved or embossed on the bottom of the poem, or on the matting.

  2. give them a invitation to your place for dinner in writing so all there names are on a invtation i dont know good luck

  3. Rich people who didn't write 'no gifts' on the invitations?

    Tacky.

How about a donation to UNICEF in the child's name?

  4. asprin.

  5. something with his new last name on it.  like a picture fram with a small plackard with all of there fisrt names and last name and the year.  I am looking forward to the time I see my adpted childs last name as mine.  It brings tears to my eyes just thinking abou it.

I already answered your first question...  just minutes ago.  SEE ABOVE LINK.

Also how about a family quilt, you know one with family members photos on it?

  7. What does it matter if they are rich or not?  It's about the sentiment, not the impressive qualities of the gift.

  8. doenst have to be a big gift, I would say send a big bunch of flowers and some chocolates from a flower delivery specialist and write in it "welcome to blabla (the son's name), I am sure he will enjoy this further chapter in his life". A surprise arrival of flowers is always special and chocolates or sweets with it can also be shared amongst the family.

Fostering is great, but you must also remember that the boy had a different life for 11 years so it would be better to say in your card or whatever in this chapter of his life rather than congratulations on your new son etc as this gives him the message that the previous life was nothing to be happy about (maybe it wasn't but he still lived it).

  9. How about a gag gift, with a gift certificate to a place where an 11 year old would love to go, like the movies, or a theme park, or another family oriented type of fun activity (water park?).

For the gag gift, literally wrap up a "survival kit" for having an 11 year old.  For the parents, earplugs, a fake bottle of sleeping pills, with a label that says, "give up to 8 pills a night for totally sound asleep 11 year old", a gag (literally), and a collar with a leash that would be a size large, as if it's going around the kid's neck.

If they aren't the gag gift type of people, perhaps a homeade scrapbook with really creative pages made specifically for that family and their situation.
