If you get adopted at age 14 but you want to keep your last name, could you? Because i might get adopted but i really want to keep my last name, not get a new one.

  1. Yes, you can certainly keep your last name.  Just tell your caseworker and your ad litem that you wish to keep your last name the same.  They will talk to any potential adoptive parents and can make that a requirement of your adoption.  

    Keep an open mind though, my cousins recently adopted three older children who said the same thing.  Once met & got to know their new parents and sibling, they wanted to share their last name.  You never know until you are there!
