  1. I think she has the right to know who her mom was that gave birth to her.If the mom who raised her want let her find out;then when she gets older she can search for herself.

  2. She should find out her state laws and see what she can do. In all states you have to be the age of majority ( between 18 and 21 in all states ) to do anything through the legal system like request non id, or state registries.

What state was she adopted in?

she can go to here: http://www.AdopteeRights.net and click on searching to get her state laws and any other links I've found that are helpful for specified states.

  3. Depending on how old she is, she may be able to start a search or at least sign up for a registry in her state to find her birth parents. She can find more information on her states laws by going to the health and human services webpage for her state. They will typically have everything outlined about adoption there and requirements to find the natural families.

  4. It depends on her age.  If she is under 18 then she should wait and respectfully ask her parents why she may not.

As an adoptive parent I can share that we're concerned about the influence of the bio family.  Not that they're all bad, it's just that their poor choices resulted in our kids being in foster care.  That is a different situation than being placed for adoption at birth by a single mother, however.

So I would suggest some family counseling for the entire family.  And address those issues to a counselor an see where it goes.

  5. Your friends Mom probably doesn't know anyhting about the bmom, that is not unusual.

  6. depends on her state, whether or not she can get her original bc.  what state is she in?
