Adoption or foster?

my family knows this really nice girl who lives with her un-biological grandmother. her "grandma" is so mean to her and finds the littlest reason to get mad at the girl. the girl is so polite and is a great person. but now the "grandma" says that she can't handle the girl anymore and is putting her into a foster home. is there any way we could take her in and how? not to be selfish, but is there any way for her to live with us where we would be provided with money to buy her things? we aren't the richest people in the world, but she's really nice and likes my family and my family thinks it would be nice to take her in.

  1. to get paid for it like a forster parent would you would have to go through the cps/chid aid, but you may not be garaunteed to get her. Another question is why is she being raised by an unbiological relative and where are her parents/biological relatives and does this person have legal custody of the girl. good luck and thank you for caring so much about a child in need.

  2. That could be possible.  Your parents should talk to your county children's services. I would think that the girl would be entitled to benefits, under that program, plus health benefits.

  3. im adopted from Russia since i was 8ish i came to America and now im 14 1/2. it kind of sounds like my "mom" but my mom apoligizes for it because shes very stressed out. and i think it is possibal.

  4. My husband and I do foster care.  If your family is interested in caring for her, they can talk to the department of children's services.  Here in TN, there are "classes" you have to take to be approved and they have to do a home study to determine your ability to care for them.

As for the money, the state does give a "board" payment for the child.  It is not a lot; you can't make money from it, but it's enough to help cover the basics like food and clothing.  And the rewards are far greater than monetary anyway.

  5. Sure it's possible.  Speak to the grandmother and either arrange something informal or have her speak with Children's Aid and have it set up more formally.
