  1. Just remember, if you ever split up with the mother, you'll still be responsible for child support until the child turns 18.  Once your name is on the birth certificate, there's no taking it back.

Are you sure you want to do this?

  2. If you are the father and you are choose to keep the baby you can have the baby.

Back to the question: you can change it to have your name on there.if the mother tells them you are the father at delivery at the hospital or you call the off ice where it is compleated at you let them know that you are the father and you need to know what to do in order to add your name and they will let you know.

  3. Legal adoption will cause an amended birth certificate to be issued.  It will have your name on it as the father.  However, it will seal the child's original birth certificate.  Is the father known?  He has parental rights, just as the mother.  You can't simply "step into his legal shoes."

Why do you feel the need to be on this person's birth certificate if you aren't actually the person's father?  Don't you think the child's documents should be as accurate as possible, for the child's sake?

  4. legal adoption.

  5. Well I do know that anyone can sign the rights over to another person if mother and father consent it cost me 800.00 my sons father signed over rights i signed the piece of paper and then my husband signed to adopt we didn't even have to go to court the attorney went before the judge and the judge signed it. With you it would be easier bc you dont have to have anyone sign rights over besides the mother if there is no father listed then it is listed as unknown as long as nobody came kicking and screaming saying they were the father you are good to go

  6. Adopt the child legally.

  7. legal adoption will not put you on the birth certificate if your not the father. If your wife/girlfriend identifies you as the real father, that might work.

  8. You have to a. prove your the father.

                         b. prove the father wants no rights/doesn't   deserve

or  c. file for adoption after proving one of the two
