hi, currently engaged to my partner and we're wondering if there are any guidelines/ resources to help prospective parents adopt?

we live in a small house in Braintree, a fairly quiet community, and are considering starting a family, however we're unable to have children of our own due to medical problems.

  3. hi,  i have several resources which may be of interest to you.

the first, is a link to the official UK Government Adoption resource, which gives small guidelines on the specifics of adoption, in addition to contact numbers and details.

the second link is to a website called "the adoption guide", it'll give you insight into the basics of planning for an adoption, including whether or not an adoption is right for you.

the third has a few facts and statistics about adoption.

the first site is UK-specific (which you may find the most useful, living in Braintree)  however the second two sites deal with the planning side better than the government site.

it sounds like you've made up your mind, but it may be worth taking time to consider how you will be able to take care of the child, as it's certainly not a decision you want to rush!

bare in mind that when adopting, you and your partner will have to undergo various checks in order to ensure that you are able to provide a fit home for a needy child, this includes your living area and the community, you and your partners hobbies, mental health and physical health via GP's, so if you are disabled or have other medical difficulties which could affect your ability to bring up a child, this may affect your eligibility.

hope that helps, and good luck to you.

  4. I won't lie -- it is difficult to adopt in the UK and getting harder.

But go to Adoption.com, ABC Adoptions, and Adoption.org and join as many forums as possible!

Talk to other parents online and learn as much as possible from experienced parents!

    NETWORK!!!

    Good luck to you!!
