I am adopted and I am interested in finding my birth parents...

Where should I go? I have registered at Adoptions.com and I have contacted the agency I was adopted from... is there anything else I can do?

  1. What state? If its alaska, YOU HAVE OPEN RECORDS!!

Go here to find your state laws: http://www.AdopteeRights.net and click on "searching." Then click on the state of your search.

You'll also want to go here: http://www.isrr.net <<< Thats the worlds largest soundex reunion registry. another plus is that its FREE!

Get a consent to release your identifying information and have it inserted into your file so if your mom comes looking for you they give her your information. Your information may not be accessable to her ( i'm not sure.)

To get some more search help w/ other adoptees, as well as support and validation go to http://www.adultadoptees.org

    Good luck!
