Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton spark as Texas Rangers defeat Houston Astros 8-3 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ third baseman, Adrian Beltre and out-fielder Josh Hamilton both had a remarkable day with the bat as they hit four RBIs collectively in the Rangers’ 8-3 victory against the Houston Astros at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on June 20.
The Rangers snapped the first game out of three-game series against the Astros.
In the first inning, the Rangers hit three runs and took an initial 3-0 lead. Beltre singled to left-field, Ian Kinsler scored a single run and Hamilton advanced to second base. Hamilton posted one run on the double-run shot of Michael Young towards deep
centre-field. The last run was taken by Beltre when Nelson Cruz hit a sacrifice fly off the centre-field.
The Rangers extended their lead 6-0 by posting three runs during the second inning. Carlos Gentry and Elvis Andrus both contributed two runs when Hamilton tripled towards deep centre-field while Hamilton added the third run on the drive of Beltre.
Third inning also went in favour of the Rangers’ batters as they moved their score-card 7-0 when Gentry doubled to left-field and Mitch Moreland scored one run. On the other side, the Astros got off the mark in the fourth inning to reduce their lead 7-2.
Michael Bourn posted a single run when Carlos Lee hit a sacrifice fly towards right-field while Jeff Keppinger scored the second run for the Astros when Jason Michaels singled to right-field. The batters failed to score any run from fifth to seventh inning
as the pitchers tossed the ball in perfect line.
Derek Holland gave three runs on six hits including three earned runs in his seven inning pitches. He pitched the ball with an ERA of 4.69 and struck-out four batters. Holland allowed three walks on 113 pitches.
Holland said, “My offense is still doing the same thing they always do.”
In the eighth inning of the game, both the sides contributed two runs jointly to advance their score-card 8-3. Jason Bourgeois added one run on the single-run shot of Michaels towards centre-field while Moreland hit a one-run homer (472 feet) to right centre
for the Rangers.
In the ninth inning, the batters got out and were unable to add any run on the score-board.
