Adrian Beltre looks to end World Series campaign with admiration
The Texas Rangers are currently 3 – 2 in the World Series tournament and they are bound to face the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis for Game 6. Looking to close the contest off with a historic win, the club’s manager took the time out to
talk about third baseman Adrian Beltre, on Tuesday, October 25.
The former Boston Red Sox player is in the best shape, at the moment and he is looking ready to avail that Tournament ring that has evaded him for 14 years of his professional baseball career. The hard hitting Rangers infielder now has a chance to avail
the ultimate prize and he has just a game to win before the accolade embraces his grasp.
Beltre may not look strong on the headlines in the recent days but there is a lot of positivity coming from the hitter’s contribution. He has a batting average of .381 and he has 13 bases to his name. Those figures stand the highest for any Texas player
and two-time Gold Glove award winner has a good record of defence in the last few days.
During the regular season, Beltre added a batting average of .296, home runs equalling 32 and RBIs reaching 105. In the World Series so far, he has gone 8 – for – 21 and has cancelled out Rafael Furcal’s line drives twice in the last three games to earn
his club a fighting chance. Manager Ron Washington talked about the player, recently.
"He has gotten big hits for us throughout the year and since the playoffs have started," Washington said Tuesday. "He's a quality professional. He shows up every day to do the two things that you like to see in your ballplayers. That's be the best he can
be and try to beat his opponents, whether it's on the defensive end, whether he takes a chance on the base paths or whether he swings the bat."
For Beltre, the excitement of being a win away from the Ultimate prize is compelling.
"I can't even explain it right now, one win away," he told reporters. "I can't wait until that happens. I've been waiting a long time for this."
With two games left to play, the Rangers need just one win. The question is: can they do it?
