Adrian Beltre’s triple RBIs help Texas Rangers defeat Kansas City Royals, 5-4 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ third baseman, Adrian Beltre had a remarkable day as he went 2-for-6 but hit three RBIs in the Rangers’ 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, on May 18.
Beltre was satisfied with the way he batted right through the game. He said of his performance, “You have to focus on that at-bat. You can't think about you missed a couple of opportunities early. You've got a chance to redeem yourself there. You forget
about what happened earlier.”
The first inning went without score for both teams. However, the Royals rallied in the second inning and got a 2-0 lead when Chris Getz singled to left-centre field and Wilson Betemit scored one run. Matt Treanor also added one run for the Royals on the
shot of Alcides Escobar. The Rangers cut-off their shortfall to 2-1 in the third inning when Endy Chavez posted one run on the ground hit of Beltre.
Craig Gentry scored a tie run when Chavez moved to third base and the game was tied with 2-all in the fourth inning. The pitchers were on top from the fifth to eighth inning as they restricted the batters from scoring any run. In the ninth inning, both the
teams contributed one run to tie it 3-all. For the Rangers, Gentry again posted a single run on the drive of Elvis Andrus. While Eric Hosmer hit a one-run homer to right-field against Neftali Feliz.
The additional 10th inning went score-less and the teams were assigned another extra inning which ended up in a result. During the 11th inning, Chavez and Ian Kinsler both added two runs for the Rangers. On the other hand, Betemit scored
one run when Brayan Pena hit a one-run shot off the centre-field spot.
Feliz used a balk move while throwing his pitches and the umpire did not notice him. The Royals' Manager Ned Yost said, “My opinion is he was balking. He was breaking his front leg and then coming to first base. The umpires are going to have to keep their
eyes on that. It's a good move.”
The Rangers’ starter, Alexi Ogando was economical with his pitches as he threw seven innings with an ERA of 2.13. He permitted just two runs on four hits including two earned runs with one walk and five strike-outs.
