Adrian Buchan excited about starting latest campaign for ASP World Title
Australia’s Adrian Buchan is all pumped up to go against the best surfers from around the world in the 2012 Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Tour that is scheduled to take off with Quiksilver Pro in Gold Coast, Australia, from February 25.
In a recent interview to SurfingSays.com, the 29-year-old elite tour veteran stated that he had immensely enjoyed the race for the ASP World Title last year. For some who had managed to finish in top-ten twice since his inception in the elite tour, last
year’s 16th place finish had not exactly been a dream run.
However, for Buchan the tour had been much more than collecting good results and amassing coveted points. It had been more about surfing with the best surfers in great surfing spots around the world.
“It’s unreal being on tour at the moment. I actually had an amazing time last year, it was really exciting. We got some sick waves in Tahiti, Portugal and Pipe and went to some new locations like New York and San Francisco which put a whole new spin on the
tour,” stated Buchan.
The New South Wales-resident further added that the mid-year cut-off introduced by ASP a couple of seasons ago and the controversy that followed had made 2011 ASP World Tour even more exciting. Not only were the surfers involved in intense battle in the
sea, they were busy outside of it as well.
“A bit of controversy and the cut-off it all made for an exciting year to be involved in professional surfing, not to mention the level of surfing was amazing,” Buchan conceded.
The campaign for the coveted ASP World Title is not the only thing that has the Australian surfer all excited this year. After getting engaged to his girlfriend Bec last year, Buchan is all set to tie the knot in Bali this June.
The Central Coast-native also revealed that he had recently resigned with his sponsor “Hurley” and was looking forward to accomplishing some good things with them in the days to come.
Buchan is expecting the year to be pretty exciting with the Tour and his marriage coming up. It would be interesting to see if things keep going his way as the year progresses.
