Adrian Gonzalez’s final inning RBI edges the Boston Red Sox over Los Angeles Angels 4-2 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez put in an amazing performance by striking an RBI double in the Red Sox 4-2 victory against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on April 21.
Gonzalez connected the ball with the bat and hit an RBI in the 11th inning to break the 2-2 tie. He drove towards the right-field position to complete his run. Gonzalez recovered his faults after the first season. The Red Sox improved their record
as they won the last five out of six games in the current season.
The other shining player in the game was Boston’s starter Josh Beckett, who gave up two runs on three hits including two earned runs with five strike-outs in eight inning pitches. Beckett pitched 125 throws in his eight innings and gave the Red Sox an impressive
start. He did not allow any Angels’ batter to hit against him up to fifth inning, but Erick Aybar took an infield single in the sixth inning and provided no option of pitching him out.
Beckett had an exemplary record against the Angels in the American League division series of 2009. With his outstanding performance, the Red Sox defeated the Angels 10 times out of 11.
Jacoby Ellsbury provided an early lead to Boston by making a two-run single. He also performed better than his previous games and gave a winning performance to his team. Dustin Pedroia and J.D. Drew contributed equally for the Red Sox as they took the lead
in the 11th inning by driving singles against the Angels’ reliever Rich Thompson. Pedroia was leading from the front and posted a run on the sacrifice fly of Jed Lowrie towards the centre-field position.
Boston’s second reliever, Bobby Jenks threw in the 10th inning and did not give up a run while the Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon pitched the 11th inning for his fourth save. Additional innings were given to break the tie of both
the teams.
On the other side, the Angels’ starter Tyler Chatwood gave up two runs on six hits, including two earned runs and three strike-outs in six inning pitches. Torii Hunter was outstanding and gave the Angels some relief after hitting a two-run homer outside
the front wall in the seventh inning.
