Adrian Mannarino Knocks down Horacio Zeballos in straight sets - Slovak Challenger 2011
Adrian Mannarino of France took his second round win over the Argentine Horacio Zeballos, Thursday, 17th of November 2011, in the Slovak Challenger 2011 winning 7-5 and 6-0. Playing the match on hard courts Mannarino formed a
strong offence against the Argentine to skin him out in 1 hour and three minutes making his way to the quarter-finals.
Aged 23, Mannarino got a lucky shot winning the second fixture against the Argentine. Although his performance in the previous 10 fixtures has been unsatisfying, the Frenchman played the best to score a win. Formerly the world No.49, Mannarino started off
his career in 2005 but failed to win any major title on the go.
On the other hand, Zeballos, a former world No.41, failed to put up a good fight and lost. The 26-year-old did prove to be a tough gun in the starting but soon broke down in the second set. Currently world No.111, Zeballos had a tough time playing on the
hard surface.
Kicking off with the match, Zeballos served first winning the opening game and rolling down the scoreboard, 1-0. Following the Argentine, the higher ranked Frenchman served out his first game to even up the scores, 1-1. The two levelled up next at 2-2, 3-3
and at 4-4 without giving away any breakpoints.
The scores once again levelled at 5-5 as both players bagged a game each next, game 9 and game 10. Mannarino went strong as he won the following game, 6-5, breaking the Argentine and finally bagging game 11 to clear the 1st set 7-5 and lead 1-0.
Zeballos was stunned as the Frenchman came over him from nowhere. The second set was when the Frenchman reined misery on the Argentine. Serving first in the second set, Mannarino rolled the scorecard and lead 1-0. Zeballos had a knockdown in the second game
of the 2nd set as the world No.82 broke him down for the first time in set 2.
Increasing his lead to 3-0, the former world No.42 made it worst for the Argentine. The Argentine could not get a single win as Frenchman stormed away winning the 4th game of the set as well. Winning the next three games including a breakpoint
win in the 6th, the Frenchman won the second set 6-0 with a wild thrashing to the untamed argentine.
The match ended up with score 7-5, 6-0 in favour of the Frenchman. Mannarino now sits in the quarter-final stage of Slovak Open 2011, an ATP Challenger Tour event to face the fourth seed, Lukas Rosol for the semi-final round spot.
