Adrian Morley undergoes eye surgery - Rugby League news
The Warrington Wolves’ skipper, Adrian Morley, underwent eye surgery on Monday, September 5th. The operation was conducted to eradicate Morley's double vision problem which had troubled him from a past injury.
Morley sustained a head injury during a clash against Saint Helens in June. Since, then he was not part of the Wolves’ squad. However, Morley returned to lead his pack for Sunday’s 39-12 victory against the Wigan Warriors after a long pause, which grabbed
the appreciation of fans.
Wolves’ coach, Tony Smith, was intitially reluctant with Morley’s inclusion in Sunday’s game. Later, when it was confirmed by the player's doctor that the eye condition could not aggravate any further, the coach gave the veteran a go-ahead which proved fruitful.
Despite being out of the playing line-up for almost eight weeks, Morley’s performance was not affected in the least. According to Smith, Morley outperformed despite the double vision problem and led his pack with brilliance to a massive win which was more
of a major blow for the league topping Warriors, who were setting their eyes on their next title.
Wolves’ massive victory over Wigans with a 24-0 lead during the initial 23 minutes had put the Wolves in a formidable position to finish off the game with class. Wigans are no longer the league toppers with the wrap-up of Sunday’s fixture as the Wolves have
snatched the Warriors’ standings within the league hierarchy with their latest win.
Morley will not be part of Friday’s line-up at Hull because of the surgery but it has been confirmed that he will recover before the Super League play-offs and should me a playing memeber of the team.
While speaking about Morley’s eye operation, Smith shared that the doctors have located the affected region and stated, “He’ll have a fairly minor operation on a little muscle in his eye and it’s a relatively small recovery period.”
The return of Morley to the Wolves is nonetheless very huge deal and his presence in the Wolves’ outfit has dampened Wigans’ chances for the League Leaders' Shield.
