The Romanian international has set high goals for his time at the Corsican club and has even challenged former teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 to end the season as the top scorer
On Monday, Romanian international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adrian-Mutu-c3742 will sign a contract with Ligue 1 side, Ajaccio. This will certainly be great news for the Corsican club and also for Ligue 1 whose fans will get to see someone who is undoubtedly one of the most controversial
players in football.
From his cocaine scandal to his drinking problems, Mutu has attracted a lot of controversies in his career. However, despite all this, the player still has a lot of talent which could have made him one of the best strikers in Europe had he not crossed his
boundaries.
A move to a mid-table Ligue 1 club offers a unique challenge to the 33-year-old Romanian who has also played for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Juventus. And, to the delight of Ajaccio fans, Mutu cannot wait to be presented officially as the club’s new signing.
After suffering from relegation last season with Italian side Cesena, Mutu is looking for a fresh start and feels that Ajaccio is the right team for him. The Romanian says that he wanted to be part of the project at Ajaccio after the club president showed
him his passion for the game.
Although the French Ligue 1 has never been as famous as the likes of the English, German, Spanish or Italian leagues, Mutu claims that the Championnat is one of the most important leagues in Europe.
At the age of 33, Mutu is slowly reaching the final stages of his career and says that he intends to end his career in Corsica.
With Ajaccio, Mutu will have a chance to play against a former teammate in Zlatan Ibrahimovic who will be Paris Saint-Germain’s main-stay this campaign.
And, Mutu has already set a challenge for his old friend.
“I know Ibrahimovic very well. This is a player who has always chosen teams in which he could evolve. He wanted to be in a team that could win the league and win in Europe. Paris is a good choice for him. In my case, I have no problem. We’ll be having a
duel from a distance. I would bet to see who scores the most goals.”
The challenge is on and it would be interesting indeed to see which of the two players will come out on top by the end of the campaign.
