Adrian Newey hails Red Bull’s title run as his best
Adrian Newey has been known as the most efficient chief technical officer in the sport because of the fact that he has extra ordinary learning skills and understands Formula 1 cars more than any other technical director in the sport.
Many people believe that Red Bull won because of the fact that they have Adrian and as long as they have him, they will keep winning titles in the years to come. Both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were running for the drivers’ title actively until the
very last race and Sebastian won the title eventually after Fernando Alonso finished in 7th place while his teammate Mark Webber finished in 8th place.
After an exhilarating and dramatic 2010 Formula 1 season, Adrian Newey claims that this was his best season yet and since the team was able to secure both constructors’ and drivers’ title for the first time, it was a season to be remembered for long.
“I was very privileged to work with Williams and then McLaren, two great teams but they had already had the infrastructure and won championships prior to my arrival so my job was very much a design job,” Adrian told the media.
Newey won the constructors’ title with three different teams including Red Bull but the RB6 was a spectacle with reference to engineering.
“I've been with the team more or less from the start in developing the team with everybody, developing the infrastructure, getting the communications working through the team and so it's been a different challenge and a challenge which has in some ways been
even more satisfying,” he added.
Newey introduced a very clever and efficient device known as the blown diffuser and a flexible front wing. These two devices helped Red Bull take the advantage over the rest of the teams on the grid and therefore, it was nearly impossible to match the pace
of the RB6 at almost every circuit of the Formula 1 calendar.
“Of course the job of the FIA is to arbitrate so when mud starts being thrown, they have to get involved and so we have to demonstrate the car is fully legal so it's a small distraction but a compliment overall,” said Adrian.
The teams will be allowed to use KERS once again next season and it would be interesting to see how Adrian Newey plays with this device in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
