Adrian Newey says late development of 2013 car is not an issue – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing chief technical officer, Adrian Newey has said that they are a little bit late with the development of their 2013 car, but insisted that it is not an issue and they are not worried.
The Milton Keynes based squad faced immense difficulties during the start of this season and failed to create a sound understanding about their car’s design because of the changes in the rules and especially the ban on double diffuser by FIA.
Nonetheless, Newey never backed down and kept on testing the essential advancement in the car so as to increase its pace. Eventually, he succeeded in developing the most competent car towards the end with which Sebastian Vettel won his third consecutive
drivers’ championship title after delivering outstanding performances during the last few races.
At the end of this season, the Briton expressed that it was his toughest year in F1 as he faced a lot hurdles in developing RB8. Furthermore, he said that he has spent so much time in making the necessary step-ups in this year’s car which has caused the
delay in their development plan for the coming year.
“We will be ready later than we would like,” Newey is now quoted by Spain’s El Mundo Deportivo.
“We had to focus until the last moment on development of the RB8 in order to retain the two titles,” he said.
Nevertheless, he asserted that they are not feeling upset and will hopefully come up with a strong car for the next season well in time because there will not be any big changes in RB9 as it is just an evolution of RB8.
“But it’s not a serious problem, because the RB9 is an evolution of the current (RB8) car,” he added.
Red Bull have emerged as the toughest competitor in the last three seasons as they have won both the drivers’ and the constructors’ championship titles. They have definitely got the potential to achieve more in the future as their beacon of success, Newey
is still in their team.
Let’s see what the genius engineer brings with his squad in the next season.
