Adrian Sutil: Force India was the best option
The Force India driver, Adrian Sutil admitted earlier today (Thursday) that he was open to all options for a change of team for the 2011 Formula One season, but Force India was his priority.
While talking to the reporters, he stated that he had been in discussion with some of the teams for a long time now but believed that Force India was the best option for him. The driver has signed a deal with the team, earlier this week, which was publicized
this Wednesday by the team boss, Vijay Mallya. While talking about the new contract, he admitted that like any other driver in the team he looked around for a better option. He explained saying that the Indian team was his first priority but before signing
a further contract he wanted to know what the other teams in the sport wanted to offer him.
The 28-year-old explained saying, "Force India was always the first priority, even if you have to listen to what the others can offer you. I am very pleased to be staying."
The German had been with the team since he stepped into the Formula One world. Now the driver is getting prepared to run a fifth consecutive season with the Silverstone-based team. The driver was signed for the first time in 2007, when this team was called
Spyker, and wrapped his debut season in the sport at 19th place. The next season marked Force India’s rookie season in the sport. Like any other Formula One team, making its first flight in the highest ranked racing series of the world, it got its
share of troubles too. However, 2009 brought a better time for the driver as well as the team. Sutil ended the season at 17th place, and was also able to bag few points.
Still, the 2010 season is the best one so far for the driver. His 47 points allowed the team to end at 7th place in the Constructors’ championship while he packed the season at 11th slot in the drivers’ charts.
At the announcement of the drivers’ line up for the upcoming season, last evening, he proclaimed, "I made my F1 debut with the team back in 2007 and we've worked together since then, so to stay for another year here feels very right. I've always said that
I feel good in this team, it feels like family and when you feel good, you are confident and can push to your maximum… We have the same ambitions so it makes a lot of sense to achieve them together."
