Adrian Sutil backed by Force India regarding assault charges – Formula 1 news
According to some recent reports, it has been revealed that Force India’s Adrian Sutil received a short-term backing from his team regarding the assault charges.
“Although the team continues to monitor the situation, it remains fully committed to its driver line-up at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix,” according to a statement released by the team.
Sutil has recently been charged for assault by Renault’s executive Eric Lux after the two got involved in an argument during the celebration of Lewis Hamilton’s first victory of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
This incident took place when Lewis and Adrian went into the VIP section of the MINT nightclub after the Chinese Grand Prix. According to some witnesses, they heard some noise after which Lux came out of the club bleeding from his neck.
His wound was visible when he arrived at the Turkish Grand Prix and according to some medical reports; it has been revealed that it was a glass wound.
At first, it was quite unclear as no one was willing to talk about this matter openly including both Sutil and Lux. However, the Force India driver made an apology to the Renault executive following a statement that he is not going to answer any questions
regarding this.
Earlier this week, the media revealed that Lux’s lawyers have stated that their client is going to file a complaint soon.
“In the view of the recent events which occurred in Shanghai on April 17, Mr Eric Lux has decided to file a criminal complaint against Mr Adrian Sutil for physical assault and grievous bodily harm As soon as the complaint is registered, the FIA (Fédération
Internationale de l’Automobile) and the team Force India will be notified,” a statement from Lux’s Swiss lawyers said.
Other than that, the statement added that Lux can take action against any other person who might be involved in this incident. They have not revealed whether anyone else was involved in this matter or not but according to this statement, it seems that there
might be some other people involved as well.
