Adrian Sutil confirms his stay with Force India for 2011
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has been driving for Force India since 2008 and it seems that he has been one of the most high potential new drivers this year. Although the German driver is not driving for one of the top teams in the sport, he has clearly
been outperforming most of his competitors who are driving a similar car as Force India.
Adrian finished in 10th place alongside Rubens Barrichello with 47 points each and the 27 year old driver has been able to give good results during the qualifying and practice sessions and in Formula 1, that is what counts. The drivers push themselves
to the limit during these sessions and most of the teams keep an eye out for fast drivers during these sessions rather than the races.
Racing is a very important part of the sport but a driver cannot achieve good results until or unless he is fast enough to score good lap times. Racing requires consistency while qualifying requires speed. Most of the drivers who rise from the ground become
good qualifiers, before winning races.
Adrian Sutil is clearly one of those drivers that are going to rise, but only if he makes the right decisions at the right time. Otherwise, he will be stuck in the back like many good drivers such as Rubens Barrichello.
Force India has been much better than the rest of the new teams comparatively and after Red Bull’s performance this year, most of the back running teams are now even more confident and it is quite clear that it is any team’s game next year.
Adrian Sutil recently stated that he will be staying with Force India for the 2011 season but did not reveal whether he has signed an extension contract with the team or not. However, his manager stated that Adrian is yet to sign the contract.
There were many rumours at first that Sutil was hoping of moving to another team for the 2011 season and it might have been a good decision but according to the past couple of results by Force India, the team has consistently been challenging Williams and
Renault. Both of these teams are championship winning teams so it is quite impressive how fast Force India is improving.
Since all the top running teams including McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull are not signing any new drivers for 2011, staying with Force India was the best option. There were rumours that Nico Hulkenberg or Nick Heidfeld were in talks with Force India and the
team was considering of replacing Adrian. However, Sutil’s manager cleared this matter and stated that the team and his driver have already signed an agreement and there is no way Force India can replace him.
Besides, Nico Hulkenberg can be considered as a replacement for Adrian Sutil but Nick Heidfeld is nowhere near Adrian. Nick Heidfeld has been one of the most inconsistent and unpromising drivers in the sport and it seems that he is better off with Sauber
rather than any other team.
“Once a contract is signed, we will announce it. This should happen within the next two to three weeks,” Adrian’s manager Zimmerman told the media.
Tonio Liuzzi on the other hand, has already signed the contract with Force India for 2011 and it seems that Force India’s drivers’ line-up will stay the same next year. However, the team’s test driver Paul di Resta is looking for a racing seat for 2011.
As for Nico Hulkenberg, there are rumours that he is in talks with Mercedes and it seems that the only way for him to stay in the sport is to join Mercedes as their test driver.
