Adrian Sutil eager to find out his place in Force India team for 2012 season – Formula 1 news
Adrian Sutil said that he is not comfortable with waiting until December for a confirmation of his seat with Force India for the next season.
Force India team Principal Vijay Mallya had announced earlier that he will be announcing his driver line-up for the 2012 season. However, rumours have been developing that Force India are looking to sign up Nico Hulkenberg alongside Paul di Resta for the 2012 season. On the other hand, Sutil is looking to talk to Mallya to find out the team plans while suggesting that he does not feel that he has to prove his worth to him.
“I can't wait till December,” Sutil told reporters ahead of this weekend’s Indian Grand Prix. “I will speak to him (Mallya) very soon and see what his ideas are. I don't need to wait so long for a seat. I think I know what I can do, so I don't feel insecure.”
Amid rumours of Hulkenberg signing with Force India, Sutil’s manager Manfred Zimmerman said that they are keen to look into the future plans much sooner than the deadline.
“That is not right,” Zimmermann said. “The team - Vijay Mallya and Rob Fernley - confirmed yesterday (Thursday) that this is a rumour in the press and not the truth. We are in negotiations with the team. When they are concluded I cannot say, but we certainly will not wait until December the fifteenth.”
Force India have performed well this season. Paul di Resta and Nico Rosberg have been able to place the team in fifth position in the constructors’ championship, which is better than their 2010 performance.
While Paul di Resta will be looking for other opportunities, Nico Rosberg is almost certain to stay with Force India. Mallya has maintained that he has not been able to find good enough Indian drivers to be part of his Formula 1 team.
Now that Sahara India has bought 42.5% stakes in Force India, Mallya might be under some pressure to instil Indian drivers in the team, but it still remains to be seen, what Mallya and his team decide.
