Adrian Sutil misses ex-technical director James Key
The leading Force India driver Adrian Sutil had a magnificent season this year as he was in 9th place in the drivers’ standings, ahead of the 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher of the Mercedes who was in 10th place in the drivers’
standings.
Adrian Sutil is a young rookie who began his Formula 1 career in 2007 with Spyker Ferrari. The 27-year-old driver scored a single point in the entire season, and even that was quite impressive given that he was driving a Spyker Ferrari that hardly finished
over the 15th position marker. Adrian joined Force India the following year and but disappointingly, did not score a single point this time. However, one couldn’t blame him, as it was Force India’s debut season and the team needed some time to settle in Formula
1. It was not easy for Force India to make its place in the competitive Formula One. However, Formula 1 officials knew that Force India had potential, so the team was given another opportunity and Force India proved that the team is capable of scoring points.
With Adrian Sutil by their side for another year, Force India finished ahead of their rival Toro Rosso to avoid the last place in the constructors’ standings.
Adrian Sutil was able to contribute 5 points in the team’s total score of 13 points. The team made its mark in the Formula 1 after the outstanding performance and decided to stick with Mercedes as their engine suppliers. Force India is currently in 6th
place with 62 points ahead of Williams. This is a huge achievement for the team, as Williams are one of the most recognized teams in the Formula 1. This has been the best season for Adrian Sutil and Force India so far. Adrian’s teammate Tonio Liuzzi is not
going so bad either as he is currently in 15th place with 13 points. Adrian’s best finish until now was in 5th place at the Malaysian and Belgian Grand Prix this year. The team has been performing extremely well this season in terms of
statistics but Adrian stills feels something vital is missing.
The German believes that Force India is missing the input of ex-technical director James Key who left for Sauber in the beginning of this season.
The team is now losing ground to its rivals Williams in a battle for sixth place in the constructors' standings that is expected to be worth $5 million in prize. Sutil said that the team had to face some consequences after losing Key while talking to an
agent of a racing magazine.
“I actually thought there would be no problem. I have confidence in the people who have taken over. His successor Mark Smith is doing a good job, but I'm sorry to say that we have lost ground”, said the German, who is thought to be close to deciding whether
to stay at Force India in future.
Adrian Sutil has been superb this season and is constantly outperforming his teammate Tonio Liuzzi until now. There were many rumours that he is getting offers from some of the top running teams including Renault, since his contract with Force India will
come to an end by the end of this season. It is expected though that he will leave Force India after this season, as he does not seem very happy with Key’s departure and said that he wants to explore more. The German is highly appreciated by many critics,
as his car is not as good as it seems and the 27-year-old is doing an outstanding job to push his car to the very limit.
“It's no longer easy for us to get into the top ten in qualifying. You only see how good a person really is when he is no longer there”, he added boldly.
