Adrian Sutil says Force India can still beat Renault in last eight rounds of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Adrian Sutil has said that they are competitive in the 2011 Formula 1 season from last couple of races.
He added that he believes they can beat Renault in the championship battle after struggling in the last stages of the ongoing season.
Lotus-Renault are at the fifth position in the constructors’ championship at the moment, while Force India are sitting at the seventh position in the title fight.
However, the team driver stated that they are not so far from Renault in the championship battle. In addition, the Silverstone-based outfit driver mentioned that he is sure they can beat them in the second half of the season, if they perform on the grid
in a decent manner, as they did in the last couple of races.
Apart from that, the German told the media that they did not make changes in their VJM04 car for the Spa-Francorchamps race taking place on August 28, 2011 in Belgium. He believes the team can perform well with their old car in Belgium, which they have in
the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Sutil commented, “I think we are strong everywhere, consistent. We have seen that on many different circuits at the moment, from the Nurburgring to Hungary, it was the same thing to be honest, the same position, and with very different characteristics of
the circuit.”
The 28-year-old driver went on to mention, “I think at the moment in the race we are already in front of Mercedes, in qualifying we are a little bit behind them so let's see if we can carry it on like this, but the last two races actually one of us was always
in front of both Mercedes so that is a good sign.”
The Force India driver is aiming to beat Mercedes GP in the qualifying rounds. He added that they are already ahead of the Petronas-sponsored team from the last couple of races in Qualifiers, so he is looking forward to finish his next qualifying rounds
ahead of them.
Let’s see how Sutil performs in the next race weekends of the 2011 Formula 1 season following the positive last couple of races.
